Extended Stay America Suites - Newark - Christiana - Wilmington

Negatives: Upon arrival, I noticed the trash can under the portico was overflowing. I knew this was a bad sign. At check-in, a customer had his dog on the counter. I can kinda give that a pass since it was a cute dog (teacup Yorkie, but not on the counter dude). Upon arriving at my floor via the elevator, when the doors opened I was immediately hit with the very strong smell of cigarettes, both new and stale. That negates my choice for a non-smoking room. The lighting in the hall was sub par, and I thought the floor was going to give way. I guess there's some old wood under the carpet. The whole floor was pretty much rowdy with people moving up and down the hall. The room (and whole property in general) is in very serious need of an overdue upgrade. To top it off, at around 0245, someone decided to pull the fire alarm. We didn't need that with it being 36°. I reported all of this to the front desk at checkout and all I got was an "I'm so sorry." No, you weren't. Apparently all of this is the norm. The whole place gave off the vibe of being a shelter. Needless to say, I didn't get any rest and I won't be staying again and I will not recommend this place to anyone.
