Location, location. Our room was spacious with a good view, good bed and bathroom.
Negatives:
1. No Temperature control. Our room was and stayed overheated. The staff recommended opening the windows. One window fell right out, but with the thermostat turned off, and the window open (at sub freezing temperatures) our room became cool enough (74 F) to sleep. According to the front desk, the heat is controlled centrally and simply stayed on.
2. Our room (‘with a view’, Genius ‘upgrade’) on the top floor was directly under some kind of machinery, emitting a constant rumbling, low-frequency noise, day and night.
Advice: stay away from the upper floors.

Positives:
The room was very clean and spacious. Also, it was very close to the Foggy Bottom metro station, which also connects to the Dulles International Airport. Also, there was a Whole Foods nearby, which was convenient.
Negatives:
The rooms need to be more soundproof as you can hear everything from the other rooms. Certain staff at the reception did not seem to be pleasant at all (they would not even smile at you as you entered the hotel).

The rooms are comfortable, and the bathrooms are clean and well-maintained.
