the personnel was terrible. Didn't explain any of the charges, and when I asked about it during check out the lady was rude. Misled about valet parking terms, and when asked, again the lady was very rude and super defensive (she was at the front desk on Monday, Nov 25th, 2024. The only person who tried to resolve the issue is the valet person who was on duty when we were checking out

Security seemed a little lax given the location. A card key was not needed on the elevator (fairly standard in city hotels) Anyone could walk in and get to the sleeping room floors. Doors from outside the hotel not locked from irish bar next door. Room and especially bathroom needs updating. One of the towels was stained and the others well worn

A perfect getaway far from...
Positives:
I chose this location because I had stayed there 12 years ago and knew the location was within walking distance of the National Gallery, the Smithsonian Portrait Gallery/American Art Museum, and the METRO. I also liked being within walking distance of great restaurant choices on 7th St. Breakfast options were excellent (crustless quiches, bacon, sausage, 3 kinds of fresh fruits, great coffee, etc). Liked the hooks in room to hang coats, as well as the closet and the safe. The bathroom porcelain no-slip flooring is very nice.
Negatives:
The pricing was really high. I realize prices fluctuate depending on day of the week, time of the year, etc. But the cost of the room for two nights was not worth the room. The room was fine, although the furniture (with drawers and old-fashioned nightstands) is not practical. The Holiday Inn Express has figured out that most short-term stays require a reinforced ledge for two large suitcases (not drawers). Vanity in bath and toilet could be a little higher for usage.
