Exceptional
Positives:
It’s vintage and in a good location.
Negatives:
It needs a lot of updating. Wallpaper peeling, stains in the bathroom, fixtures missing from furniture etc.
I have always wanted to stay at the famous Drake Hotel since I was young. We decided to celebrate my wife’s birthday and take the kids downtown to see the lights.
Also, when I booked I messaged the hotel and made mention that we were celebrating my wife’s 45th birthday and it was our kids first time in the city. I had expected something in our hotel room especially after we paid extra to upgrade. Nothing. We have stayed at some of the best hotels and some middle of the road hotels and I can tell you I was quite disappointed in the lack of service. We plan on staying downtown next holiday season and we will stay at The Four Seasons instead.

Professional, friendly staff @ front desk. Perfect meals for Christmas dinner @ Hotel Restaurant , very nice server / waitress on Christmas Day who did amazing job recommended a perfect meal for me & my family . Will be returning to this property in near future
Negatives:
Cafe on Oak needs a little help w staffing , service . ..on December 27 th was incredibly slow, I waited over 20 min to get any service while I sat at the table before even ordering coffee & food . But on a 28 th morning there was excellent service , it was well staffed , with friendly waiters.

Positives:
Beautiful lobby
Negatives:
It’s an older building so rooms are a little compact. Closet space small

Positives:
The historic building and the history of the hotel itself is why we wanted to stay. The location in the city was another deciding factor with it being close to shopping and restaurants.
Negatives:
We were disappointed in the lack of higher end toiletries, bath robes or plush towels. Our room was a junior suite which was incredibly large, however had an absurdly small bathroom. We did request a refrigerator which was brought to our room which was good. Better quality coffee and maker is something we expected.

Older hotel with nice lakeview
Positives:
Beautiful hotel in the heart of the magnificent mile!
Negatives:
Only thing I did not like was the air conditioner did not cool down the room because of the older radiant heat that they had otherwise everything was perfect!

Beautiful Christmas family staycation!
Positives:
Room 1016 was great. Loved the high floor. Room service was prompt. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful./
Negatives:
Everything was good. I would recommend turning the deserted executive lounge and board room into a selfie room. The windows and views are great and with a little redecorating, could be an added amenity, especially with younger crowd.

Overall would stay here again....
Positives:
The service received the entire time we were there was exceptional. The food in the hotel as well as room service was amazing! My only regret is that I wasn’t aware of the High Tea and they were completely booked so I didn’t get to experience that but everything else great!! The Bell man, Floyd, went above and beyond, especially running to get my bags in the Lyft before they left. The view was amazing, bed was comfy, hotel was clean!! We will be back!
Negatives:
The last day we had no hot water as the boiler was down so we couldn’t shower before we left. Not a huge deal but a slight inconvenience.

Negatives:
Paid extra for the 10th floor but had no view...it was expensive and didn't even come with breakfast and our toilet wouldn't flush

Positives:
The room was wonderful and unusually large. Everything having to do with the room expectations was spot on. T.V. lost single, we reported the problem, and someone was at our door within five minutes. He tried his bag of tricks. No luck. He said there was one more thing he could try before writing up a job order for the next day's crew. It was to go up on the room and clean the ice and snow off the dish. It was cold and snowy. Within ten minutes the single was back and all was well. I found this to be typical of all staff we encountered. Once again, congratulations to the building management.
Negatives:
We were contacted by our online vendor and offered an upgrade for an extra $25 dollars a day. We accepted it and paid the additional $125 dollars. However, when we arrived at the hotel they had not been advised of the upgrade. We realize this is not in the control of the Hotel, and did/are not faulting them. We feel that the hotel should be aware of this issue by Booking.com lest they care to take action according to their policy. Every other area was exceptional, despite the hotel being sold out. Though the main lobby was crowded with adults and children, plus the restaurant, the staff were cordial and professional. My hat is off to the manager of this hotel. His masterful leadership is evident.

Positives:
As Chicagoans, we have weekend at the Drake for many years for birthdays anniversary’s , or just for weekend stays food has always been exceptional, and since these trips tended to happen over the Christmas season, they lobby and people have been exceptional
Negatives:
It’s long on tooth. An access panel in the bathroom fell off, the ‘touch screen’ welcome to the Drake, barely worked, few tv channel selections, and it was noisy between rooms (never experienced this before, but I think we were next to a suite, so be diligent when booking, no suites, connecting rooms, and away from the elevator lobby

Positives:
Love The Drake. It is always at the top of my list. The breakfast restaurant at the hotel is lovely, and they have amazing Christmas decorations. I did not have time to do tea, but I did get to enjoy the harpist from the lobby area.
Negatives:
The in-room coffee and room service could be improved, especially for a hotel of this caliber. Also, the tablet in my room did not work.
