Residence Inn by Marriott Boston Waltham

Negatives: The site said free parking, and it cost $28 to park daily

Negatives: I would not recommend staying at this hotel. I have also stayed at the Residence Inn in Concord, MA about 15-20 minutes away, and that hotel was much quieter, cheaper, cleaner, friendlier, better breakfast. Just nicer in every way I can think of. First, there was a surprise $15 per night parking fee at check-in to park in a nearly empty parking lot in the suburbs. I learned about this at check-in and would have booked elsewhere had I known. This must have been in the fine print somewhere but it was indicative of a general trend at this hotel to just skimp on customer satisfaction wherever possible. Other nearby hotels (including another nearby, much nicer Residence Inn) had free parking, so this was just annoying. The main issue with this hotel is that it's so loud. I don't write negative reviews often but this was pretty strange and I was woken constantly every night. The doors close very unusually loudly (and they also close in a sudden jerking motion that slammed a door shut on a family member's finger). It's strange that these doors would be chosen for a hotel. The walls were thin too, so you hear every conversation in the hallway. The room was very hot for some reason so we ran the AC at night but the AC unit was very loud too. This was a much more unpleasant sleeping experience than I've had at budget motels. Third, the room was dirty when we arrived with obvious tufts of dog hair across the floor and couch. The couch looked like it had been scratched up by an animal or purchased very used. Fourth, some of the staff were very friendly but others were not. I think the bar/lobby area closed at 11pm and at check-in I watched a staff member yelling at a guest to get out and leave at 11:04. TL;DR - seemed like it could be fine with some updates but there's about a dozen other hotels nearby that would be better for the same price with free parking and a chance at sleeping through the night.

Negatives: There was nothing I didn’t like

Negatives: Staff wasn't very helpful.

Negatives: The fridge was not working. I told this at the reception desk a couple of times and they didn't do anything about it. The shower is awful, the water is either extremely cold or extremely hot.

Negatives: We were disappointed with the housekeeping. Each day we had to request towels. We spent 4 nights, and we do not believe the room was cleaned during that period. We used the dishes and kitchen, and we ran the dishwasher. We were not provided with any replacement dish soap during the four days, so we left dirty dishes behind. Our kitchen trash was never emptied. We resorted to leaving a bag of trash in the hall, which was removed. We were not given a replacement trash bag for the kitchen trash can.
