Extended Stay America Suites - Detroit - Madison Heights

Negatives: i stayed Nov 8-Nov 11 and the room number I got assigned to was 245. One day I turned on the heater and it went on fire so I turned it off to put the fire out but there was black smoke coming from the heater after and the room smelt like gas, and all of me and my girlfriends clothes ended up smelling like smoke/gas. Very unpleasant as we tried to seek help but the workers didnt even offer a new room we had to ask about if we can get a new room. The worker at the lobby also said she smelled the smoke/gas off us. We then moved to the new room upon request from us. Checkout day comes and we ask if its possible for a partial refund at least for the unconvenience of moving again and the fact all of our clothes smelt like gas/smoke from the fire and we were told it wasnt likely we can get it because they gave us a new room but that doesnt change the inconvenience to move again, and to have all our clothes smell like gas/smoke. This to me does not sound right

Negatives: it wasn't as clean as it should have been

Negatives: Most of the desk staff were rude or non-chalant at best. When we came in and out, the desk staff was usually in the back. The room was not clean. We had to clean someone's hair out of the bathroom sink when we arrived. The stove had crumbs on it. We were unable to take a bath because they ran out of tub stoppers. It was not the experience I hoped for.

Negatives: Everything was great

Negatives: Our room was not properly cleaned. It looked like someone started and didn’t finish. There was a pile of dust bunnies in the corner. The bedding was in a pile as if it was already used so we didn’t touch it. The pillows were stacked up on the windowsill. The bathroom had just one soap bar in it. It was not clean. The furniture needs updated so badly.

Negatives: Cleaning needs work

Negatives: Bad smell on the aisles. No water at breakfast.

Negatives: How unconcerned the front desk young was acting. The room was NOT cleaned thoroughly. 1)The bathroom still had hair in the tub and sink from the previous stay. 2)The chair to sit at the kitchen table had something smeared on the back of it. 3) The light used for the living area was blinking and dim almost ready to burn out. I was in a stressful situation that evening and wanted somewhere to stay that was inexpensive but would have paid more for better. I would not take any of my things out of my bags and put them anywhere. I dare not use anything in the kitchen; if the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly I know the kitchen wasn't either. Also, the outlet nearest the bed, on the nightstand did not work.

Negatives: carpeting need cleaning

Negatives: The lock was broken on the room door and the room had no remote for the tv
